The Biomedical Research Institute (BRI), founded in Rockville, MD in 1968, is a not-for-profit research institute, with a major emphasis on basic research in schistosomiasis. This major tropical disease affect hundreds of millions of people throughout the world. In addition to basic research, we provide life cycle stages of the schistosome parasites to the international community, principally through contracts with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.
BRI houses a low temperature repositority, currently supporting a wide variety of other medical interests.
In 1985 BRI expanded its subsidiaries to include the Association of Entrepreneurial Science (AES), an incubator for startup scientific companies, to bring scientists and basic research findings into the realm of commercial markets. AES brings together all the accompanying business skills required for profit making entrepreneurs to bring scientific products and services to the marketplace.
